Uh, maybe?
Wherein we tackle a question outside of our pay grade.
This week’s querent asks: “Is there any reason to go on?”
Now seems as good a time as any to emphasize we are not a mental health professional (obviously). Nor are we a certified existentialist (can you get certified as such?). Disclaimers aside, we took a leap into the Wild Unknown, and here’s the haps:
Eight of Cups: Something’s missing, and you’re seeking it. Generally this engenders an emotional lack or loss. This makes sense in the context of your question. What’s causing this discontent?
Knight of Cups: Another Cups card, speaking to the watery realm of emotions and intuition. A natural continuation of its predecessor: you are on a quest for emotional fulfillment. Lean into your intuition; follow your feelings (barf bags sold separately). Avail yourself of your favorite creative outlets, whether it’s music, writing, painting, drawing, or making funny grocery lists. This knight heartily encourages self-expression!
Page of Pentacles: Pages in the tarot are students and messengers. Within the context of your query, you’re likely being encouraged to look at things with fresh eyes. Maybe you’re jaded. Maybe you have every reason to be. But the world is vast, and old, and full of many, many mysteries. Think of all you’ve yet to discover! It’s out there waiting for you. We turn to the earthy realm of Pentacles for insight into material matters, be they career, health, home, finances, or this material world we live in. Book a trip, maybe. Enroll in a class. Apply for an internship. Turn over a new leaf in your material pursuits, and embrace Beginner’s Mind.
The Empress (bonus card): Since this is a heavy question, we pulled an additional card for added insight. The Empress is all about fertility and nurturance, in all their iterations. Plant some seeds in your garden, water them, make sure they get plenty of sunlight. Find what feeds you and dig in. The Empress is an earth mother (barf bags sold separately) and she wants you to experience satiety. Entertain the notion that the world is benign (if only for the novelty of the exercise) and embrace it accordingly.
So—is there any reason to go on? Who can ever definitively say? It’s certainly easy to find reasons not to. Should you persist, however, it looks like there’s fertile soil out there for you to embark on emotional quests, creative pursuits, and new pathways to discovery. Start over, try something new, see what this wide, (sometimes) wonderful world has to offer. Take care of yourself, eat good food. Maybe don’t throw in the towel just yet.
